By connecting your Blu-ray Disc® player, TVs or Network media player to your home network, it provides access to many additional entertainment sources that are not available from over-the-air, cable, or satellite providers. There are the several options available in connecting to your home network.
To begin this process, follow the instructions below:
Check your Home Network
- Make sure that your Internet connection is working. You can go online using your computer, tablet, or other network device connected to your home network.
Is your Internet connection working?
- No.
Turn your Cable or DSL modem off and back on. If you have a separate router, turn it off and back on. Once these devices have fully reset, check your connection again. If still not working, contact your Internet service provider.
- Yes.
If you are planning to use any type of wireless connection for your Blu-ray Disc player, TV or Network Media device, you should verify if the wireless network is already set up and working with other devices on your network? This can be tested using a computer, tablet, or other Internet device with wireless capability.

- If wireless is not enabled, refer to your Internet provider or router manufacturer for instructions on enabling and setting up wireless access.
- If wireless is enabled, determine your connection options. Check the manual for your product or go to theSettings menu of the TV or video device(usually by pressing theHOME button on the remote) and check theNetwork settings.
- No.
The menu and options may differ depending on the product you have but generally will list in one of the following ways:
NOTE: The example images below were taken using a BRAVIA® TV menu. However, the buttons on the remote and the menu options when using a Blu-ray Disc players or Network media players should be similar.
- If you see an option for Wireless or Wi-Fi select it, then you know that your product has a Built-in Wireless.
- If you see an option for Wireless and when you try to select it and you see a message that you need an adapter, your product is LAN-ready and requires a separate adapter to connect wirelessly.
- If you do not have an option for Wireless but you have a LAN port (RJ-45) on the back of your device you will need to use one of the wired connection options.
- If you do not have any network settings and there is no LAN port (RJ-45) on the back of your device, you cannot connect it to a network. Visit the Sony® Store website for information or to purchase the latest Internet-capable devices. Information about current or soon to be available Sony® products and accessories is available online through the Sony Store.
Select your connection method
- Built-in Wireless or LAN-ready

IMPORTANT: LAN-ready means that the device requires a separate UWA-BR100 adapter.

- Make sure that the device requires and supports the use of the wireless USB adapter.
- Make sure that theUWA-BR100 wireless adapter is securely plugged into the USB port on the Internet-capable Sony® TV, Blu-ray Disc player or Network media player.
If there is more than one USB port, check the product manual to determine which one to use.
- NOTE: The Wireless LAN Adapter (UWA-BR100) has been discontinued and is no longer available. If you do not already have one of these adapters, you will need to use one of the wired connection options below.
- Wired (using the RJ-45 LAN connection)
NOTE: The LAN connection on the back of the device can be used to connect directly to your router (wired) or can be used to connect to a wireless adapter (sold separately) to provide a wireless connection.- Using an Ethernet connection directly to your modem or router.
- Using a gaming adapter or wireless bridge.
- Using a powerline adapter.
